Every Saturday from May through September, residents can purchase fresh produce and crafts at the one of Northwest Ohio’s largest farmer’s markets. If you can’t find what youre looking for there, head just north of town to Suter Farms, where you can pick your own apples, strawberries, pumpkins, and the best sweet corn you’ll ever taste. Each December, Bluffton celebrates the Blaze of Lights. During the Christmas season, the downtown area is lit up with Christmas lights and visitors walk around to the sounds of Christmas music playing outdoors.
Residents can enjoy activities such as walking, biking, fishing, swimming and other activities at the several parks – all of which are connected to one another via the Bluffton Pathway. If you just want to spend some quiet time in nature, check out the Bluffton University Nature Preserve and walk across the famous Swinging Bridge.
One interesting claim to fame is that notorious bank robber John Dillinger robbed the Bluffton Bank (now known as Citizens National Bank of Bluffton) in 1933. His gang then helped him escape the Allen County Jail, killing the County Sheriff in the process and earning the fugitive Dillinger the title of “most wanted” by the FBI.
